Street Games Bristol is ran as a partnership project between Bristol City Council and the 2nd Chance Project to provide ‘doorstep’ sport for young people living in Bristol’s most deprived areas. The partnership supports a range of community organisations with a view of developing sports activities and a range of development opportunities for young people, their workforce and local communities.
By working in partnership with Bristol City Council we aim to support and develop the number of qualified sports coaches to provide local sport activities at a range of community hubs across Bristol. The activities delivered under the ‘Bristol Street Games’ banner adopts the play work principle of the 3 F’s;
- Fun
- Free of charge
- Flexible
The aim of each session is to engage a young person through sport, slowly introduce coaching and structure to the sessions. With time this does enable the young people to access more mainstream provision therefore beginning the journey of self development through sport and allows them to access a range of progression opportunities offered in partnership across Bristol.
