Apprenticeships

Bookmark and Share

Apprenticeships are a great way to gain practical skills in the workplace and earn while you learn. They give you the chance to experience working life and explore potential new career paths.

What is an apprenticeship?
As an Apprentice you are employed in a full time placement, earning money whilst working towards various qualifications relevant to your role. Different industries have different frameworks and qualifications which you must achieve. Most of the learning takes place in the workplace but some may require you to attend tutorials, depending on the programme.  2ndChance regularly review your progress as well as guide, support and tutor you through the qualifications associated with your apprenticeship.

2ndChance Project have a network of employers across the South West who can offer placements, most take 12 months to complete, and we work in partnership with City of Bristol College. Demand for placements is high and they become available at different times of the year, but we are always committed to supporting young people who are passionate and enthusiastic wherever possible.

Which Apprenticeship and choice of NVQ is right for an individual will depend on their experience and the role being undertaken. Unless you are in a supervisory role you will start on a level 2 programme. Before you start your apprenticeship you will have an initial assessment to determine which course and level is best for you. The NVQ makes up the main part of the apprenticeship and is assessed in the work place using a variety of methods such as observation, professional discussion, witness testimonies, question and answer and written assignments.
