James came from the private prison service where he gained vast experience in the fields of operational management, education management and delivery, multi agency working and delivering various programmes to high risk young people. James is also the South West Regional Lead for Active Communities Network and consults on programmes relating sport and youth crime world wide. And also…James likes to think he can play football and used to be a bad ass weightlifter, he also believes he can take on the world…and we believe him!

Director of Sport & Education
Tony joins the team with vast experience in sport and education, having previously been Director of Football at the Bristol Academy of Sport, Tony has managed a number of semi professional football teams, such as Bristol Rovers Youth, Bristol Rovers women’s, Bath City and Weston Super Mare. Tony is a FA licensed tutor and holds his EUFA A license.
And also…Tony is pretty handy with a football himself and would give most freestylers a run for their money, he also seems to know everyone who has anything to do with Sport and Education in Bristol and beyond!

Director of Transitions
Justin has extensive knowledge of the Criminal Justice System (prison and community) and received ‘Best Practice’ from HM Inspectors for his work with Long Term Offenders and multiple National Awards for his programme design and delivery. Justin also recently won the Working with Young People, Prison Officer of the Year 2009. His qualified knowledge and use of NLP and Life Planning/Coaching has directed all of his work to be the very best of social interventions for Offenders and people in need of support.
And also... Justin loves his tunes and his favourite hobby is messing with our heads, always making us think about things in a different way. He also has an evil sense of humour.

Director of Learning & Skills
Maggy is experienced in setting up and delivering Apprenticeship programmes. As a qualified teacher she has also tutored and assessed a range of qualifications for many years. Maggy has also been involved with local government advising on the implementation of funding of the national drugs strategy and young peoples services across Bristol. She has also developed numerous programmes and qualifications to roll out across community schemes. And also...Maggy loves her netball and spends most of her time at work thinking up ways to make education fun and useful. She likes shooting the breeze with the other guys, has a tendency to waffle!

Financial DirectorJohn has extensive experience in the financial industry. He was a bank manager for over 30 years and has been a finance director for numerous organisations. We are pleased to have him coordinate our financial strategy at 2nd Chance and keep us in line! And also... John is without doubt the best golfer of the 2nd Chance crew, though who knows for how long with the new driving range just over the field from the office...

Coach & @Life Programme Tutor
Gary has a wealth of experience in coaching, including Head Coach for Bristol Academy Women's Senior Team at Filton College and coaches numerous teams in the community. He is a coach educator and is currently working towards his UEAFA A licence. He runs our @Life programme and the HMP YOI Ashfield Football Academy. And Also....His longstanding nickname is Charlie the Monkey and he played Football at semi-pro level for numerous local teams.

Apprenticeship Tutor and Assessor
With Vicki's extensive background in sport and coaching, she joins the team to help develop and train our apprentices on their Activity Leadership Apprenticeships, she is a qualified netball coach and runs introduction to coaching, Principles of Coaching and Community Sports Leaders programmes for many of our young people.
And also...Vicki is another netball fan, though her friendly, sunny disposition vanishes when she steps foot on court!

Cornwall Manager and Apprenticeship Tutor/Assessor
Tash is a level 3 Football Coach and has just completed all her Youth Modules. She has also worked as a lifeguard, gym instructor and swim teacher, and has been involved in setting up numerous football and community sport projects across the county in conjunction with the FA numerous local clubs. A high level player herself, she has coached both elite through to grass roots players and is well respected across the South West. She joins the team to build apprenticeships and sports programmes throughout Cornwall with the aim to develop young people, helping them gain qualifications and find employment. And also...she surfs, she plays footy, cycles, swims, plays tennis and she can do monkey bars! Is there any sport she can't do??!!

Tutor and Assessor
Nigel joined the team in March 2011 with years of experience in delivering accredited and non accredited courses to those working with challenging young people both in group and one to one setting, as well as Substance Misuse. He will be running a range of programmes across this area for 2nd Chance and we're very pleased to such have a well respected expert on board.
And also...we heard Nig used to be in a punk band?! More details please...!

Community Project Manager
Neil joins the team with many years working in youth, community and sport development. He won the SWEB Award for services to Bristol community sport in 2002, and was part of The New Deal Sport Development Team that was shortlisted for the BBC Power of Sport Award in 2010. Neil is passionate about the use of sport for effective change, and is well known among all the young people, families, sports clubs and agencies of central and East Bristol. He comes to 2nd Chance to continue his passion for community sport by spearheading Street Games and other community initiatives.
And also... Neil, formerly known as MC Vera (makin' it cleara!), frequented the Bristol rave scene and as a DJ claims he and his brother were pioneers of the ambient chill out scene…not sure we believe him but the name says it all!

Project Coordinator
Davina joined the team in December 2010 following the work she did with UrbanWise at Knowle West Media Centre. She is an experienced youth worker and currently coordinates all of our Future Job Fund placements. She also intends to expand Urban Wise in the near future.
...And also... likes to be known as "George" and the team love her as she tells it like it is!
