The Intermediate Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership (has three pathways):
o    The Outdoors
o    Exercise and Fitness
o    Coaching

Intermediate Apprenticeships take 9-12 months to complete.

There are numerous qualifications, which make up an apprenticeship framework. You must achieve a wide range of knowledge and competency based qualifications, together with literacy and numeracy (Key/Functional Skills) and PLTS (Professional, Learning, Thinking Skills). The aim is to support you to gain the wider skills you need in the workplace as well as the core qualifications required to do your job.

There is a lot of jargon surrounding apprenticeships and with so many frameworks available it is confusing. 2nd Chance try to keep things simple, there are no college release days, and as far as possible we deliver all the training in the workplace, which suits you and the employer. We tailor the learning to suit both. Two phrases you will hear however are “Off the job” and “on the job” learning.

“On the job” is all the learning an apprentice receives whilst delivering their daily job role, such as gaining technical experience, as well as time they spend acquiring knowledge and skills to achieve the competence requirement.
“Off the job” is the learning delivered away from the immediate pressures of the job. It may be delivered in the workplace or off site. This could be your Award in Employer Awareness, Key Skills, Technical certificates or also one day training courses such as Child protection, Equity in Coaching, Manual Handling etc. Any training that the Employer provides as statutory for all employees counts towards your experience and learning to achieve the whole apprenticeship framework.
